SHENZHEN Huawei has confirmed that its annual flagship Mate 80 series will launch on November 25 at 14:30, marking its final major smartphone event of 2025. The announcement highlights major hardware upgrades, ecosystem expansion, and a refreshed device lineup.

Mate 80 Series Debuts with New Naming and Standardized Hardware

This year’s lineup introduces a major branding shift. Huawei has replaced the long-running Pro+ model with a new Mate 80 Pro Max variant.

Furthermore, reliable industry leaks indicate that Huawei will standardize the Kirin 9030 processor across all models. The company will also adopt 3D facial recognition as a default feature for the entire series, streamlining the security experience for all users.

Pro Max May Feature Dual Periscope Telephoto System

Huawei is reportedly preparing its most advanced camera system yet. According to early sources, the Mate 80 Pro Max could include a dual periscope telephoto setup — a first for the Mate lineup.

Additionally, a new magnetic accessory ecosystem is expected, suggested by a large circular interface positioned on the rear casing in prototype devices. This system may support snap-on accessories such as battery packs, cooling modules, and photography attachments.

Mate 80 RS Ultimate Edition to Include 20GB RAM

At the top of the lineup, the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Edition will ship with 20GB of RAM, making it one of the highest-memory smartphones in the world. The RAM modules will reportedly use custom-developed chips from domestic suppliers, reinforcing Huawei’s push for supply-chain independence.

Huawei to Reveal MatePad Edge: A New 2-in-1 HarmonyOS Device

Beyond smartphones, Huawei plans to unveil the MatePad Edge, a next-generation 2-in-1 computer. The device will allow users to switch between PC mode and tablet mode in HarmonyOS without closing apps or losing active processes.

This seamless capability suggests a deeper integration between Huawei’s mobile and PC ecosystems under HarmonyOS 6.

New “Sunlight on Snow Mountains” Router: A Fusion of Art and Connectivity

Huawei will also expand its smart home portfolio with the X3 Pro router, themed “Sunlight on Snow Mountains.” This model features transparent antenna technology, which doubles as ambient lighting. The device combines high-speed networking with artistic design, reflecting Huawei’s push toward premium smart-home aesthetics.

A Strong Push Toward a Unified HarmonyOS Ecosystem

Overall, the November 25 event signals Huawei’s larger strategy: building a tightly integrated HarmonyOS ecosystem that spans smartphones, tablets, 2-in-1 devices, and home networking solutions. With major upgrades across all product categories, the company is ending 2025 with one of its most ambitious launches.
