Huawei and Samsung Prepare for Tri-Fold Showdown

Huawei and Samsung tri-fold smartphones are poised to dominate the premium foldable market this fall, with both brands preparing to launch next-generation triple foldable devices. Industry sources hint at a fierce competition between the two giants, with each focusing on raw power, design, and innovation.

According to leaks from well-known tipster SmartPikachu, Huawei and Samsung are finalizing their flagship tri-folds for a possible release in September 2025. While Huawei will bring its device powered by the Kirin 9020 chip, Samsung’s answer will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, setting the stage for a high-tech battle.

Huawei’s Mate XTs: Power Meets Durability

Huawei is likely to name its second-generation tri-foldable the Mate XTs. While design changes may be minimal, the phone will introduce significant upgrades in durability, camera hardware, and overall performance.

The device is expected to retain the unique triple-fold architecture introduced in the Mate XT, which was the world’s first triple foldable smartphone. However, Huawei aims to address the durability concerns raised during earlier tests.

Key highlights of the Mate XTs may include:

  • Kirin 9020 chipset with 5G support
  • Enhanced folding structure for better resistance
  • Color options expanded beyond royal red and black/gold
  • Improved camera system optimized for multitasking and AI

This focus on durability and processing power is a direct response to critics and a bold move to dominate the foldable market.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Tri-Fold: Bigger Screen, More Lenses

Samsung’s Galaxy Z tri-fold is also set to impress. Reports suggest a large 10-inch OLED display, designed with cutting-edge foldable tech that combines thinness with strength.

While its sleek folding design is a highlight, the camera setup is where the Galaxy Z may shine:

  • 200MP main sensor
  • 12MP ultrawide lens
  • 10MP periscope lens with 3x zoom
  • 10MP selfie camera on the front

However, early leaks indicate that Samsung may compromise on battery capacity, echoing concerns seen with its Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z tri-fold might be launched in limited quantities, with expanded availability depending on consumer response.

Chipset Faceoff: Kirin vs Snapdragon

The Huawei and Samsung tri-fold race also pits two powerful chips against each other. Huawei’s Kirin 9020 promises over 20% performance improvements from previous versions. Samsung’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, on the other hand, is expected to deliver top-tier gaming, AI, and multitasking performance.

This chipset duel will shape not just speed but energy efficiency, camera processing, and software responsiveness in the foldables.

Who Will Win the Foldable Crown?

With Huawei focused on rugged design and processing power and Samsung offering screen innovation and camera supremacy, the tri-fold supremacy battle is heating up.

Other players like Honor and Xiaomi are still on the sidelines, waiting for the perfect moment to enter the tri-foldable arena. But as it stands, all eyes are on Huawei and Samsung.

The Mate XTs and Galaxy Z tri-fold will redefine what users expect from next-gen mobile devices. Their success could reshape the competitive landscape of foldable technology.

A Look Forward

As both companies ramp up marketing and production, the tech world is bracing for one of the most exciting showdowns in foldable history. The Huawei and Samsung tri-fold releases could influence design trends, pricing strategies, and adoption rates for years to come.

Stay tuned—this isn’t just a product launch; it’s a declaration of dominance in the future of smartphones.
