The HarmonyOS 5.1 Huawei Pura 80 update is now available, bringing a major round of improvements in camera features, AI tools, and system performance. Huawei confirmed the initial release for Pura 80 devices, while a broader rollout to other models is planned for the coming month.
The update, version 5.1.0.118, weighs in at 6.80GB and introduces noticeable upgrades across the board. It improves camera functionality, enhances Celia AI, and refreshes the interface with creative new themes. As a result, users can expect a smarter and more fluid mobile experience.
Camera improvements take center stage. Huawei introduced three new night photography modes—Chasing the Moon in the Universe, Magnificent Starry Sky, and Starry Sky Portrait. These modes enable users to capture stunning images of the moon, stars, and nighttime portraits. Moreover, general camera effects have been refined, with better control over color and brightness in scenes like sunset, panorama, and portrait.
To support creative expression, Huawei has added AI editing tools. The new Magic Image Shift allows users to drag, scale, or reposition people in a photo. This feature simplifies the editing process by removing the need for professional tools. Additionally, the AI anti-reflection tool now uses AIGC technology to eliminate glare from windows, helping users create clearer images through glass.
Celia AI also receives a significant upgrade. A new Live Mode launches from a dedicated call button, allowing real-time voice chats. Furthermore, users can tap the video button to start a face-to-face conversation with the assistant. Celia now integrates deeper into system services, offering personalized suggestions for weather, travel, food, and daily routines.
Meanwhile, Huawei has added two interactive themes. Dancing Master reacts with animations and sound effects, while Dimension Crossing turns a selfie into a 2D comic-style wallpaper. These features bring a fun and highly customizable touch to the user interface.
Performance optimization is another highlight. The system runs smoother, apps launch faster, and overall stability has improved. Even though these enhancements are starting with the Pura 80 series, Huawei intends to extend them to other HarmonyOS devices soon.
