Huawei is rolling out a major Huawei 5A network upgrade for its Mate, Pura, and Nova series devices—enhancing 5G performance without relying on new cellular standards. Importantly, 5A is not a new network generation like 5G-A. Instead, it’s a “5A-level high-quality network experience” designed to deliver faster, more stable, and wider-reaching 5G on existing infrastructure.
According to Huawei, the 5A technology offers significant improvements over standard 5G. It delivers over 50% faster network access, 30% higher throughput, 49% lower latency, up to 50% wider coverage, and nearly 80% more stable connections. These gains come from intelligent network optimization within Huawei’s HarmonyOS ecosystem—not from changes to carrier hardware.
Initially, Huawei introduced 5A with the Mate 80 and Mate X7 series. Later, it expanded the feature to the Nova 15 series last month. Now, the company confirms a broader rollout across dozens of existing devices, including flagships, foldables, and tablets.
Eligible devices include:
- Mate series: Mate 60, Mate 70 (including Premium and Air models), Mate X5/X6, Mate XT Ultimate Design, and Mate XTs
- Pura series: Pura 70, Pura 80, and Pura X
- Pocket & Nova foldables: Pocket 2 (Premium included), Nova Flip, and Nova Flip S
- Nova phones: Nova 12, Nova 13, and Nova 14 series
- MatePad tablets: Pro 13.2 (2023 & 2025), Pro 12.2 (2024), and Mini 8.8-inch
Notably, this update brings cutting-edge connectivity to previously released foldables and tablets. This move shows Huawei’s commitment to long-term device support and customer appreciation—extending high-performance networking beyond just new launches.
Huawei plans to release the Huawei 5A network upgrade via an over-the-air (OTA) update this month. More details about the update package will arrive soon. Because Huawei tightly integrates its hardware and HarmonyOS software, deploying such enhancements has become highly efficient.
In short, the 5A upgrade transforms how users experience 5G—making it faster, smoother, and more reliable. For owners of eligible Mate, Pura, Nova, and MatePad devices, improved connectivity is just an update away.
