Explore the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE, offering a 6.67″ display, Kirin 710A chipset, 5000mAh battery, and triple-camera setup. Discover its performance, battery life, and more in this review.

Introduction

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE, released in January 2021, is a budget-friendly smartphone with solid specifications for everyday use. With a large 6.67-inch display, a capable Kirin 710A chipset, and a massive 5000mAh battery, the Enjoy 20 SE aims to offer great value for users looking for a reliable phone at a low price. Its triple-camera setup, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and expandable storage further add to its appeal for users who need a practical device without spending too much.

In this review, we’ll explore the design, performance, camera, and battery life of the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE to determine if it lives up to its promises as an affordable mid-range smartphone.

Design and Build Quality

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE features a plastic build, with a glass front and a plastic frame and back. Weighing 206g and with dimensions of 165.7 x 76.9 x 9.3mm, it’s slightly on the heavier side, but the added weight is a trade-off for the large 5000mAh battery. The phone is available in three colors: Crush Green, Blush Gold, and Midnight Black, giving users a range of stylish options.

The phone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, integrated into the power button, which provides quick and convenient unlocking. The overall design is clean, with slim bezels and a modern appearance, making it an attractive option at this price point.

Display

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE has a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, delivering a 20:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 395 ppi. The display offers sharp and clear visuals, making it suitable for watching videos, browsing, and light gaming.

While the IPS LCD panel doesn’t provide the deep blacks and vivid colors of an OLED screen, it’s more than adequate for most users, especially considering the phone’s affordable price. The large screen size also makes it ideal for media consumption and multitasking.

Performance

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE is powered by the Kirin 710A chipset, built on a 14nm process. The octa-core CPU consists of 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, which offer decent performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, social media, and light gaming. The Mali-G51 MP4 GPU handles basic gaming, but for more graphics-intensive games, you may experience some lag and stuttering.

The phone is available in two memory configurations: 4GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. Both variants offer microSDXC expansion, though it uses a shared SIM slot, so you’ll need to decide between dual SIM functionality or additional storage.

Running on EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10, the phone doesn’t include Google Play Services, like other recent Huawei devices. Users will need to rely on Huawei’s AppGallery and other third-party stores to download apps, which might be a consideration for those heavily reliant on Google’s ecosystem.

Camera

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE features a triple-camera system:

  • 13 MP wide camera (f/1.8, PDAF): The primary sensor delivers decent photo quality in good lighting conditions, with acceptable sharpness and detail.
  • 8 MP ultrawide camera (f/2.4, 120˚): The ultrawide lens is useful for capturing landscapes or group shots but performs best in well-lit environments.
  • 2 MP macro camera (f/2.4): This lens is designed for close-up photography but is more of a novelty and struggles in low-light conditions.

The camera setup supports 1080p video recording at 30fps, and features like HDR and panorama are also included. However, low-light performance is average, as expected in this price range. The 8 MP selfie camera (f/2.0) does a decent job of capturing selfies and also supports 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Overall, the camera system is serviceable for casual photography, but users looking for advanced camera features or excellent low-light performance might want to consider higher-end models.

Battery and Charging

One of the standout features of the Huawei Enjoy 20 SE is its 5000mAh battery, which offers excellent battery life. The phone can easily last a full day of moderate to heavy use, and even light users might find it lasts up to two days between charges.

The phone supports 22.5W fast charging, which allows it to charge up to 46% in just 30 minutes, making it convenient for users who need to top up their battery quickly. While it doesn’t support wireless charging, the large battery capacity and fast wired charging ensure that battery life is never a concern.

Connectivity and Other Features

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE supports GSM, CDMA, HSPA, EVDO, and LTE networks, making it versatile for various carriers. The phone also features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS, ensuring that users have access to all the standard connectivity options.

For audio, the phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is becoming increasingly rare in modern smartphones. The device uses USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and data transfer and supports OTG for connecting external devices like flash drives. Unfortunately, the phone lacks NFC, so users won’t be able to use it for contactless payments.

Price and Availability

The Huawei Enjoy 20 SE is priced at around 160 EUR, making it one of the more affordable options for users looking for a large-screen smartphone with long battery life. Its combination of decent performance, a large display, and a massive battery makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Conclusion
