Globacom, in collaboration with Huawei and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, has launched a transformative initiative to bridge the digital divide in underserved areas.
The partnership will deliver digital infrastructure to 7,000 rural communities across Nigeria, starting with a pilot project in Isuanin Kura, located in the Ibwa 2 community of Gwagwalada, near Abuja, the country’s capital.
The pilot village is already experiencing the benefits of 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile services, along with free public Wi-Fi, remote learning platforms, and digital healthcare solutions. Over 12,000 residents are set to gain access to vital online services, enhancing education, healthcare, and general connectivity.
According to Globacom, the broader goal is to foster digital inclusion for millions of Nigerians who live in remote or previously unconnected areas.
