Explore the Huawei MatePad T 10s, a budget-friendly tablet featuring a 10.1″ display, Kirin 710A chipset, up to 4GB RAM, and a 5100mAh battery. Ideal for casual users and students.

Introduction

The Huawei MatePad T 10s, released in September 2020, is a well-rounded, budget-friendly tablet. It offers a 10.1-inch display, a capable Kirin 710A chipset, and a 5100mAh battery. With various storage and RAM configurations, this tablet is suitable for students, casual users, and anyone looking for an affordable device for multimedia consumption and light productivity tasks.

Design and Build

The Huawei MatePad T 10s is designed to be slim and lightweight, measuring 240.2 x 159 x 7.9 mm and weighing 450g. The tablet’s build feels solid and comfortable to hold, and it supports a stylus, enhancing its versatility for drawing and note-taking. Available in Gold and Deepsea Blue colors, the MatePad T 10s delivers a sleek and modern look.

Display

Featuring a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio, the screen offers decent clarity for watching videos, browsing, and reading. With a 77.4% screen-to-body ratio and a pixel density of 224 ppi, the MatePad T 10s provides a satisfactory visual experience for its price range.

Performance

The MatePad T 10s runs on the Kirin 710A (14 nm) chipset, which powers an octa-core CPU (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) and a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The tablet is available in various storage and RAM configurations, including 16GB/2GB, 32GB/2GB, 64GB/3GB, and 128GB/4GB. The inclusion of microSDXC support allows users to expand storage further.

While the performance is sufficient for everyday tasks like web browsing, video playback, and light multitasking, the lower RAM variants (2GB) may struggle with more demanding applications and multitasking scenarios.

Camera

The Huawei MatePad T 10s is equipped with a 5 MP rear camera featuring PDAF and shooting capabilities of 1080p@30fps. Although not designed for professional photography, it is sufficient for basic tasks such as scanning documents and casual photography. The 2 MP front camera allows for video calls and selfies but performs best under good lighting conditions.

Battery Life

A 5100 mAh Li-Po battery powers the MatePad T 10s, providing enough juice for a full day of casual use. While it supports only 10W wired charging, the battery life is efficient, lasting through video playback, browsing, and light productivity without frequent recharges.

Connectivity and Additional Features

The Huawei MatePad T 10s supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual-band) and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connections. The LTE model also supports GSM, HSPA, and LTE, providing mobile internet access. The tablet includes GPS, GLONASS, and BDS for location tracking (AGS3-L09 model only).

Other features include stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, delivering an enhanced audio experience. The 3.5mm headphone jack is still available, allowing users to connect their wired headphones, which is a plus for budget tablets.
