After months of anticipation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold prototype has finally been revealed, directly challenging Huawei’s dominance in the triple-fold smartphone segment. Displayed during the K-Tech Showcase, a side event at the APEC CEO Summit, Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold device hints at the brand’s next big leap in foldable technology.

Until now, Huawei has led the tri-fold smartphone race with two commercially available models. Samsung’s unveiling signals its intention to compete head-on, introducing a concept that could redefine foldable device design and portability.

Prototype Details and Display Features

The showcased prototype features a dual-hinge setup, much like the Huawei Mate XTs, allowing it to fold into three panels. Reports suggest it will have a large 10-inch main display paired with a 6.5-inch cover screen—essentially combining the convenience of a phone with the usability of a small tablet.

Although currently displayed behind glass, the prototype highlights Samsung’s focus on engineering precision. The final model is expected to be slimmer and more durable, potentially incorporating advanced imaging and hinge technology to compete with Huawei’s established tri-fold lineup.

Samsung vs Huawei: A New Foldable Battle

Samsung’s tri-fold design represents a bold step forward in its ongoing rivalry with Huawei. The Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold aims to match or surpass the Mate XTs in functionality, sleekness, and innovation. Industry insiders predict that mass production could begin before the end of the year, with further improvements in hardware and software expected.

The introduction of Samsung’s triple-fold concept reaffirms the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone design. As Huawei continues refining its foldable series, this emerging competition could accelerate advancements in display engineering, hinge mechanics, and battery optimization—ushering in a new era of multifunctional mobile devices.
