Huawei is rapidly solidifying its dominance in the foldable smartphone segment, with a staggering Huawei foldable phone market share of 76.6% in China for the first quarter of 2025. This marks a remarkable surge from its 48.6% share in the final quarter of 2024, according to newly released IDC data.
The company shipped 2.842 million foldable units in Q1, a 53.1% year-on-year growth and a strong recovery from the previous quarter’s 9.5% annual decline. This dramatic rebound reflects not only Huawei’s aggressive innovation strategy but also the declining influence of competitors like Honor, Oppo, Xiaomi, and vivo.

Honor, which held 20.6% of the market in Q4 2024, dropped sharply to just 9.1% in Q1 2025, losing significant ground to Huawei. Oppo, though still trailing, improved its performance from 5.3% to 7.1% following the release of the Find N5 foldable in February. Meanwhile, vivo has dropped off the radar completely, and Xiaomi’s market share plummeted from 7.4% to a mere 2.6%.
Huawei’s lead stems from a strong product portfolio launched in the past year. These include the groundbreaking Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first tri-foldable device, alongside the Mate X6, Pocket 2, and nova Flip. The 2025 lineup began with the Pura X — a uniquely designed foldable that has already made waves for its creativity and appeal.
Although Huawei is still chasing Apple in the broader smartphone space, its foldable leadership is unmatched. In contrast, Apple has yet to release any foldable models, giving Huawei a commanding edge in the innovation race.
With more models expected in the coming months and Huawei’s continual R&D investments, the Huawei foldable phone market share may grow even further. If current trends continue, the brand could maintain or even expand its lead in China’s evolving premium smartphone segment.
