Zain KSA, in partnership with global tech leader Huawei, has introduced a revolutionary mobile technology innovation: the Riyadh Antenna Platform. Designed to meet the demands of modern network performance, this state-of-the-art solution supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its ambitions for full-scale digital transformation.
This new antenna arrives shortly after Zain KSA secured 30 MHz in the 600 MHz frequency band during the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST)’s recent Spectrum Auction. This acquisition expands Zain’s mobile frequency capacity by 27%, giving the Kingdom the largest sub-6GHz spectrum allocation in the G20.
What Makes the Riyadh Antenna Different?
Unlike traditional flat panel antennas, the Riyadh Antenna features a compact cylindrical design that reduces its Effective Projected Area (EPA) by 30% to 60%. This improvement lowers wind load pressure, cuts down structural support costs, and opens doors for faster deployment—even in high-rise or wind-prone areas.
Here’s what sets it apart:
- Multi-Array Integration: Several antennas are built into one sleek tower, enabling broader coverage and higher capacity without expanding the site footprint.
- Space-Saving Build: At only 2.0 meters tall, it’s smaller than legacy 2.6-meter antennas, lowering site rental fees and reducing visual clutter—ideal for crowded urban spaces.
- Smart Adjustments with AISU & RAS: The antenna comes equipped with Antenna Information Sensor Unit (AISU) and Remote Azimuth Steering (RAS). Operators can remotely fine-tune the signal direction both horizontally and vertically, cutting OPEX and boosting efficiency.
“This antenna is not just named after our capital—it reflects Saudi Arabia’s ambition to lead digital innovation,” said Eng. Mohammed Al Nujaidi, CTO at Zain KSA.
“Antenna systems must evolve with intelligent design, energy efficiency, and digital integration. We are proud to support Zain KSA and Saudi Vision 2030,” added Andy Sun, President of Huawei’s Antenna Business Unit.
Transforming Telecom Across the Kingdom
By embracing next-generation hardware like the Riyadh Antenna, Zain KSA is redefining what’s possible for mobile infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. It also sets a new standard for sustainability, performance, and innovation in the broader MENA telecom industry.
Saudi Arabia continues to show leadership in digital infrastructure among G20 nations, and this collaboration with Huawei proves it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
