The Huawei Ascend W3 was an ambitious Windows Phone 8 device that was planned to strengthen Huawei’s foothold in the Windows smartphone market. Expected to launch in early 2013, the Ascend W3 followed the Ascend W1 and W2, aiming to bring a refined design, stronger performance, and a sharper display to the Windows Phone lineup. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled before release, making it one of Huawei’s more mysterious prototypes.
Equipped with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display featuring a 720×1280 resolution, the Huawei Ascend W3 was built to deliver crisp visuals with smooth touch responsiveness. Powered by a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, it promised seamless multitasking on Microsoft’s efficient Windows Phone 8 operating system. Its 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording and LED flash highlighted Huawei’s attention to mobile photography even in the Windows platform space.
