The SAIC Shangjie H5 has officially entered presales in China, marking the debut model from the joint venture between SAIC Motor and Huawei. Introduced on August 25, the mid-sized new energy SUV is available in six trims, featuring both REEV (range-extended) and BEV (battery electric) powertrains. Prices begin at 169,000 yuan and reach 209,800 yuan, with the official launch set for September 23.
Designed under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, the Shangjie H5 blends minimalism with advanced technology. Its streamlined front fascia includes an active grille for aerodynamics, L-shaped daytime running lights, matrix headlamps, and multiple LiDAR sensors. Buyers can choose between 19- or 20-inch wheels, while the SUV’s proportions—4,780 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, 1,664 mm high, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase—give it a commanding stance.
The rear adopts a full-width horizon taillight with chrome detailing, available in six exterior colors such as Cloud Blue, Midsummer Purple, and Golden Black. Inside, the wraparound cabin comes in four interior themes and showcases a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 15.6-inch central screen, and Huawei’s Super Charge 50W wireless pad. A premium star-ring audio system enhances sound quality across the cabin.
On the tech side, the SUV integrates Huawei’s HarmonySpace smart cockpit and ADS driver-assistance systems. The Max trim is equipped with ADS 4, offering high-level autonomy through a 192-line LiDAR, 11 HD cameras, and multiple radars and sensors. It supports parking-to-parking navigation (P2P 2.0). The Pro trim uses a camera-based ADS system with traffic light recognition and highway navigation assist.
Under the hood, the REEV model delivers a 235 km electric range and 1,360 km total range (CLTC) with a 1.5-liter range-extender engine producing 80 kW. The BEV versions offer four range options—525 km, 535 km, 640 km, and 655 km— powered by either a 64.6 kWh or 80 kWh battery, paired with single rear motors rated at 150 kW or 180 kW.
With its bold design, smart technology, and multiple range choices, the SAIC Shangjie H5 positions itself as a strong contender in China’s competitive new energy SUV segment.
