At the 11th Ultra-Broadband Forum in Paris, Huawei unveiled a bold vision for the future of digital infrastructure with its AI UBB (Artificial Intelligence Ultra-Broadband) strategy. James Chen, President of Huawei’s Carrier Business, introduced the concept of “Triple Leaps to AI UBB”, urging operators worldwide to seize new growth opportunities in the AI-driven broadband era.
According to Chen, telecom operators can expand growth by focusing on three key dimensions — depth, breadth, and height — transforming networks into intelligent ecosystems that deliver superior user experiences and new revenue streams.
Leap in Depth: Experience-Centric Monetization
The first leap in depth redefines monetization from bandwidth-based to experience-based models. By integrating AI with broadband networks, operators can detect and optimize performance for applications such as AI cloud gaming and 4K livestreaming. Huawei cited a leading Thai operator using its AI WAN solution to offer tailored acceleration packages, boosting gaming experiences and increasing average revenue per user (ARPU).
Leap in Breadth: Expanding Digital Boundaries
The second leap in breadth encourages operators to expand beyond connectivity into digital intelligence and computing services. Huawei’s AI Homehub, for instance, empowers carriers to evolve into smart home service providers, while FTTO (Fiber to the Office) solutions help SMEs transition toward intelligent operations. Major carriers in China now serve over 2 million FTTO users using Huawei’s integrated solutions. In the UAE, e& has leveraged AirEngine Wi-Fi 7 to launch Wi-Fi-as-a-Service, cutting costs by 67% and attracting 13% more enterprise clients.
Leap in Height: Intelligent Operations
The third leap in height focuses on upgrading network operations and maintenance (O&M). With the introduction of level 4 autonomous IP networks, Huawei and Spain’s MasOrange achieved faster repair times using iMaster NCE, improving user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Chen concluded by emphasizing that AI UBB represents only the beginning of a new digital chapter. Huawei’s goal is to empower operators through AI-driven experience monetization, OPEX reduction, and continuous innovation, paving the way for long-term growth in the intelligent network era.
